Offering 3 levels of backlighting as well as superior and contrast and visibility, the ST60 Depth instrument can be easily seen day or night. The instrument is constructed in a rugged, waterproof case (CFR46) to provide reliable performance, even under the most demanding conditions. The ST60 Depth instrument receives data either from its connected depth transducer (master mode) or from another depth-calculating device connected to the SeaTalk data network. Additional ST60 Depth displays can be added as repeaters wherever needed simply by connecting them to the SeaTalk network and configuring them as repeaters. Quality instruments need to be read accurately with a quick glance under varying conditions. I sail in places where the depth can change quickly and it isn't unusual to go from 123' to 12.3' in a short period of time. I've found it often difficult to discern the ST60's decimal without an inordinate amount of attention. If the unit is intent on showing tenths, the tenths should be in a sub or super-script. And/or the unit should have an option to not display tenths at all - they're of very limited use. I'm disappointed in the ST60 Plus depth "system" and I am presently looking for a replacement.
