Garmin Portable Bluetooth GPS and GLONASS Receiver | Marine Electronics

I tried the Dual and other bluetooth connected hardware with limited success.
When I saw that Garmin had an iPad map app that
stored the maps on the iPad - I investigated further to
find out that they also sold a GPS hardware unit that connected
to the iPad via bluetooth. Not only worked great with
their app - but worked with the other iPad mapping apps
I had (TomTom, Google Maps-before Apple erased it).
Called them for support for initial ipad connection issue -
turns out - for me anyway - you need to disconnect the bluetooth (if you tried it)
and restart the iPad (hold down both buttons until you see the Apple)
and then reconnect the bluetooth.
Great product - turn-by-turn directions on my WiFi-only iPads (2 & 3)

I found it works great. I even found it works while in my jacket pocket which then allows me to use my GPS apps that don't need a sim connection, just a working GPS hardware to interface with. The App is over 1.5 GB (just for the Western US and because everything is there, I'm not required to have a constant link with the internet. It's been BRILLIANT just BRILLIANT! I highly recomend this Garmin Bluetooth GPS over the "Dual Electronics model XGPS150 receiver". I'm running a 64GB IPad 2 on IOS version 6.1

I use this with the ForeFlight app for iPhone 5 and iPad mini. It works great at slower speeds (less than 500kts). If you are in a highly maneuverable aircraft, it takes about a minute of straight and level flight, post dynamic maneuvering, for the GPS to catchup to wear it actually is. I have used it with the new Map app on the iPhone 5 in both the US and UK and had no issues, works great. Only complaint is fast/dynamic flight it will lose track.
